Terrapin Side Project #23 Guano Loco

Style: Brown Ale
ABV: 8.6%
IBUs: 35
Suggested Serving Temp.: 50-55% Degrees

Description: Malts: 2-row pale, Victory, special Roast, Crystal 65, Crystal 85,Brown Malt, Chocolate Malt. Hops: Super Galena, US Goldings. "Acho Brownie Ale", supposed explosive flavor with a very complex pallet. Suggested strong chocolate sweetness with a zesty spiciness that creats for quite a unique drinking fiesta.

Rating: 8.3/10
Review:(Served in wine glass poured out 22oz bottle)
Appearance: Dark brown coloring, but allows for light to seep through. Camel tan finger head that slowly disperses into a ring around the edge which resinates and maintains through drinking.
Smell: Heavy robust chocolate but the aroma of the chillies is the real distinctive factor on the nose.
Taste: Medium to heavy body, the chocolate taste from the malts is present immediately but then as those malts would fade towards the back of the pallet, as they do traditionally with brown ales, the spiciness from the chillies picks up bring quiet a zesty finish with remains with the taste buds for several minutes following consumption. Leaving me craving more.
Mouthfeel: Medium body but tons of creaminess followed by straight zest. Like sticking one's tongue to both the positive and negative sides of a 9V battery.
Overall: It was delightful. I am traditionally not a fan of brown ales, but this one was so complex and unique in the different flavors which accompanied it. The chocolate is not as present as I had hoped, for some reason I was thinking it might be like a sweeter porter style, however the chillies created for a warming sensation that was awesome.
